Red Mist is a prison-based emotion control game using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) techniques to help young people’s understanding of negative emotions and their potential consequences.

Red Mist will be designed to drive young people’s understanding of the devastating and very real consequences that negative actions and behaviour may have in real life.

In order to succeed in the game the user will, at various points, need to manage negative emotions and stay calm under pressure, despite aggression or ill-treatment being directed towards them. Red Mist will be designed to help young people identify negative emotions and understand the impact that reacting to them can have on their lives and others, and how a positive change can lead to a rewarding and fulfilling life of positive personal outcomes.

Through the use of advanced innovative technology, this application will allow certain outcomes of the game-play to be influenced by the player’s mental state. By using a mixture of emotion control technologies, the game experience will be so true to life it will feel like the users are living it. Red Mist will be the first of its kind, a powerful and emotionally gripping experience set to resonate in the players’ minds.

“The Red Mist game would be a useful tool for our organization to use working with aggressive youth offenders, engaging young people on the subject of ‘correct behavior’ and ‘responsibility’."
